The AprilAire E070 (formerly model 1820) is AprilAire's entry-level crawl space dehumidifier. It is rated at 70 pints per day at AHAM conditions and 53 pints per day at 73°F per the spec sheet, with a coverage claim of up to 2,200 sq ft. The 12.5 x 12.5 x 25 in. cabinet and 56 lb weight put it in the same low-profile class as the Santa Fe Compact70.

Where the E070 differs from the Compact70 is airflow and filtration: it moves 200 CFM at zero static (170 CFM at 0.2 in. and 140 CFM at 0.4 in.), versus 150 CFM for the Santa Fe, but ships with a washable MERV-8 filter rather than a MERV-13. Rated draw is 5.4 A on the current R32 spec sheet (an older R410A sheet lists 5.8 A). AprilAire quotes 53 dBA ducted.

The E070 is a gravity-drain unit with a barbed fitting and 10 ft of tubing included; pump bundles are sold separately. It is made in the USA, carries a 5-year warranty, and was $1,400 at Sylvane at verification ($1,616 for the E070W Wi-Fi version). The E070 is not in ENERGY STAR's certified dehumidifier list, unlike the E080, E100 and E130.

The E070 makes sense if you want a compact US-made unit with more airflow than the Compact70 and do not mind MERV-8 filtration. At the same $1,400 price band, the E080 adds capacity, a lower noise rating and an ENERGY STAR Most Efficient listing for about $95 more, which is why the E080 ranks higher on our list.
